    Game Description

In recent years the fascination with Zombies and the undead has increased immensely. There are many popular video games, TV shows and films that are based upon the fantasy scenario of a Zombie apocalypse such as The Walking Dead or World War Z. The Zombie theme has even spread to the world of cos play and also live action role-play, with events cropping up regularly for those interested in participating and we even now have a World Zombie Day, which is on October 8th in case you’re wondering.

New video slot Lost Vegas by software devs Microgaming draws heavily on the whole zombie apocalypse theme and puts us straight into an outbreak style scenario filled with vey dark humour and also a twist. In their new online slot game, you just happen to be in Las Vegas at the time the world gets overrun by the living dead. The game itself is packed with some very cool special bonus games and features plus the ability to play as either the survivors or zombies which affects the look of the reels and how bonus rounds are played.

    Technical Characteristics

The aim of Lost Vegas is to escape the zombie apocalypse with your life and hopefully the jackpot. Depending who you choose to play as (survivors or zombies) the backdrop to the reels is set either inside the derelict casino or outside on the zombie ravaged streets of Las Vegas. The graphics have a very cool video game feel to them and resemble the sort of artwork you see on the cover of one of Rockstar’s games like the Grand Theft Auto series. The sound sets the scene perfectly, creating a kind of tension throughout which actually works well for a slot game. The card icons in this slot stay the same no matter which game type you choose but the character icons featured depend on whether you play as zombies or survivors and depict different characters from each side.

The game is played over 5 reels and 3 lines with a massive 243 ways to win available. The standard Microgaming UI is used in this game and is simple but effective, allowing you to set your betting amounts and toggle various features such as auto spin and game information. There is also a button at the top right of the screen that allows you to switch between survivor and zombie mode during the main game instantly. If you click on the button marked ‘pays’ then you can see all the available winning combinations as well as get information about this particular slots special features and how to activate them.

    Bonuses and Rewards

Microgaming have packed Lost Vegas with some very interesting special features and bonus games. During the base game you need to keep an eye out for the scatter symbol and the wild symbol. The scatter is represented by a Biohazard style symbol while the wild symbol is represented by the games Lost Vegas logo. As in most online slot games, the wild symbol will simply substitute itself, when it appears, to complete any winning paylines that cross its path. The scatter symbol is important because it triggers the free spins round, get 3 of these and you will trigger one of two free spins rounds.

The free spins round is very cool because depending on which side you’re playing as, survivors or zombies, you will activate 1 or 2 different free spins bonus games. When playing as the survivors you will activate Free Spins with Stash, which makes any symbol from 10-A disappear during the reel spins and adds a certain amount of cash to your ‘stash’. Winning combos will always pay after the stash and the stash prize itself is won after the round is over. Free spins during this round continue until all the royal icons have been ‘stashed’. When paying as the zombies you get a Free spin round with the ‘infection feature’. This is a type of stacked wilds (similar to NetEnt’s Zombies) and a full zombie stack will infect the reels and infected reels actually turn wilds into stacked wilds. This round finishes once all the reels have ben infected but you can get up to 50 free spins in this round. If you manage to survive 50 free spins you win an extra bonus cash prize.

Finally, there are two random bonus events that can both only occur during the normal game. The first is the ‘blackout bonus’; which turns all the character symbols on the reels into an instant cash prize when it hits. During the blackout bonus you only need to land 1 scatter (instead of 3) to activate the free spins feature. The second random bonus is called ‘zombie fist of cash’ and this can occur on any non-winning spin, awarding you a random sum of cash.
